Writer Wednesday: Author Jeané Sashi

Writer Wednesday: Jeané Sashi

Today, I'm happy to welcome author Jeané Sashi to my blog.

Jeane Sashi: Hi Teresa, I’m honored to be a guest on your blog today.

I'm glad you came over, and thank you for the opportunity to interview you, Jeané! Let's hop right in.

When did you first begin writing?

I first began writing to actually publish a book was in 2009. The inspiration came from a friend of mine who was writing a script for a movie, that’s when I decided that I could write my short stories into a book.

When did you finish your first book and what’s the title?

My first book Intimate Moments in 2010 and didn’t self-publish it until 2011.

What genre do you write in and how did you choose that genre?

I think my genre chose me. I write in the genre of erotic romance. I’m a die-hard romantic and I don’t find anything wrong with sexual expression.

Do you write full-time or do you have another profession?

I guess you can say that I write full and part-time. As I do many other things in my life which I stay busy, writing is my passion.

How do you market your work? What avenues have you found to work best for your genre?

My work is marketed through social media channels, blog book tours, press release marketing. All of those avenues have been good for me, especially the book blog tours.

What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment?

The toughest criticism I received was a 1-star review for one of my books. I was told there was not enough sex in the book. I guess the reader was looking for the book to be porn.

The best compliment I received was a 5-star review. The reader stated that she could identify with the book and she enjoyed reading about characters that were upscale and professional.

Reviews are important for authors. How do you go about requesting reviews?

I really don’t focus much on reviews as I do sales. I guess that’s an area I may have to work on. Being in business, the sales are more important to me than anything else.

Let everyone know where they can find you and your books.

Do you have any advice you can give to aspiring writers?

To aspiring authors, I would say be patient. Success with being an author is not going to come over night. It does take work and you have to put in the work. Do not use shortcuts to getting your book published. Professionalism is the key; do not try to compete with other authors by trying to publish a number amount of books. Quality is better than quantity. Again, do not shortcut on the quality of your book. Meaning, editing, formatting and book cover design. All of these play a crucial role to the sales of your book.

Is there anything that you’d like to say to your readers/fans?

I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to purchase and read my books, Intimate Moments and The J Spot. I really do appreciate you. I extend all of my love to all of you. Smooches!
